How to prepare for renting a luxury car — VertexRent checklist
Complete guide: required documents, refundable deposit, handover checklist and useful rental tips.
Renting a luxury car is a slightly different experience than picking up a "sensible" hatchback at the airport. A higher-value vehicle means a refundable deposit, stricter driver requirements and a more careful handover protocol — but none of it is complicated once you know what to expect. Here is the complete checklist that will get you through booking and handover without a single hiccup.
Quick summary
To rent a premium car from VertexRent you need: to be at least 25 years old (28 for supercars), a driving licence held for at least 2 years (5 years for supercars), a valid ID and a payment card in your name. The refundable deposit ranges from 10,000 to 140,000 CZK depending on the model and is released within 48 hours after a problem-free return. Every rental includes 110 km per day and insurance; we typically confirm bookings within 1 hour.
1) Check that you meet the requirements
Before choosing a car, verify the basics:
- minimum driver age is 25 — for the most powerful cars, such as the Chevrolet Corvette C8, the limit is 28,
- a category B driving licence held for at least 2 years — supercars require 5 years of experience,
- only drivers listed in the contract may drive the car; a second driver can be added, just let us know in advance.
2) Documents to bring
Full requirements are listed in the rental conditions. We prepare everything else — the contract, handover protocol and proof of insurance.
- a valid national ID or passport,
- a valid driving licence,
- a payment card in your name (for the deposit),
- for corporate rentals — company registration extract and ID number.
3) Booking step by step
Pick a car in the catalogue — each model shows the daily rate by rental length, the deposit amount and included kilometres. Send the booking online, or call +420 777 729 793 or write to info@vertexrent.cz.
We typically confirm within 1 hour — by phone or e-mail we agree on the date, handover location and extra services. Plans change, so cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup; later cancellations carry a 30% fee.
4) How the refundable deposit works
The deposit covers the insurance deductible and minor damage. Across our fleet it ranges from 10,000 to 140,000 CZK — for example 20,000 CZK for the BMW M3 and M4, 80,000 CZK for the Corvette C8. You see the exact amount on the car page and in the booking e-mail.
- It is placed at handover — as a hold on your credit card, or by bank transfer in advance.
- After the car is returned without issues we release the full amount within 48 hours.
- Only actual damage, missing fuel or over-limit kilometres are deducted — everything documented in the protocol and photos.
5) What's included and what costs extra
Every rental includes 110 km per day, liability and comprehensive insurance with a deductible. Optional extras:
- an upgraded limit of 200 km/day — handy for road trips outside Prague,
- kilometres over the limit (from 29 CZK/km depending on the car),
- car delivery to Václav Havel Airport, your hotel or office — see airport delivery,
- a second driver in the contract.
6) What to check at handover
- Go through the handover protocol with us — mileage, fuel level and visible marks (scuffs, windscreen chips). Have anything extra added.
- Photograph the car from all sides — we keep our own photos too, but your own record gives you certainty.
- Try the infotainment, climate control and phone pairing so nothing surprises you on the road. For performance cars we'll walk you through the driving modes.
7) During the rental
- Fill up with premium petrol (98 octane or higher) — performance engines require it and it's a contract condition.
- Avoid pressure washing and brush car washes — the cars are waxed; hand washing is ideal.
- No smoking in the car — deep cleaning after smoking is charged at 5,000 CZK.
- Whatever happens — a flat tyre, a warning light, a parking bump — call our 24/7 line +420 777 729 793 immediately. Most situations are resolved remotely, and in person around Prague.
8) Returning the car
Return the car with the same fuel level as at handover — otherwise refuelling is deducted from the deposit. Normal dirt is fine; heavy soiling beyond normal use is charged individually. We go through the protocol together, and if everything is in order, the deposit is released within 48 hours.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take the car abroad?
Rentals cover use within Czechia by default. Driving abroad requires written approval in advance — contact us before booking and we'll set the terms individually.
What if I arrive later than agreed?
No problem — just let us know by phone. We'll move the handover or arrange delivery to another location.
Do I need a credit card, or is a debit card enough?
We can hold the deposit on a credit or debit card, or you can send it in advance by bank transfer. The card must be in the driver's name.
Can I reschedule my rental dates?
Yes — rescheduling is usually free of charge and depends only on the car's availability for the new dates.
Ready to go? Choose your car in the catalogue — we'll confirm the booking typically within an hour and take care of the rest.
